Hellooooo 2021 - please be good! Reading Challenges

Welcome to 2021!! Perhaps this time we can get some joy and of course book? Stay safe and eventually let us hope a better version of the old world arises I don’t want to go back to 2019 either. I love New Year’s Day far more than New Year’s Eve the future is always more enticing - fresh starts, new things to find and shaking off the dust of the past. This is my favourite day of the year and for the blog that means reading goals!

a) Runalong The Shelves in action - This year I turn 45 by the end of 2021 so the big theme for the year is finishing some things that have been on my to do lists a while. For the blog this means a bit of a return to one of the reasons I started the blog – getting through my own TBR shelf which strangely is still full. One aim is to read one book a week that is on my shelves and is not an ARC/existing readalong. Could be fun!

b) Return to regular scheduling – I’m blogging fairly regularly but let’s see if The Week In Womble can be recovered and I think a fortnightly advance booktempting feature would be fine

c) Reading more diversely – I want to continue to improve the balance of authors of colour on the blog by more regular reading.

d) Book Tags – The world of bloggers and vloggers have lots of lovely little questions and habits I’d love to do more of these as mini posts

e) Readalongs – Trying to do one book in order a week clearly doesn’t work for my brain so I’m going to loosen them up and make them just a feature on the blog. I will though be reading an Octavia E Butler a month.

f) Release dates – Tiding up ARCS and also hitting release weeks is a big goal for 2021

g) Endings – I want to progress the series outstanding on my shelves…. and a few yet to start!

h) Short stories – as well as collections I would like to get back into short story magazines

For me goals are positive things I want to try and do rather than stop. I hope 2021 gives you the chance to do things you’ve never done before, and some delicious surprises await you
