From The Library With Love
I would like to thank Anne and Kate for putting this excellent podcast on my radar

It’s very hard for me not to thank Lister Drive Library for becoming the reader I now am. A fascinating building one of the Carnegie libraries (now a community centre https://www.tol.org.uk) in the middle of the part of Liverpool that I’m from had huge windows, a scary bust of Carnegie, wooden floors and a fantastic smell. The librarians encourage the young Womble to hunt around and I tried to read all sorts and of course many many Doctor Who target novels. Libraries are where we can learn that reading is massive. I’m fascinated by them and hate anyone saying they’re no longer needed. Kate Thompson has launched a really interesting podcast ‘From The Library With Love’ about libraries reading and the history of this fascinating field.
Podcasts are one of my favourite ways to gain non fiction knowledge and this is a really interesting and varied field. I’ve listed to a recent episode from Libraries Week in October where Kate interviews Sharon McKellar who from Oakland Library in California talks about the Found In a Library Book project (http://www.sharonmckellar.com/found ) the tales of what people leave in their library books as placeholders from the funny to the poignant.
it’s a lovely flowing and warm interview talking about how the project grew and the types of things people leave behind which reminds us that library books are our communities in a form of history passing back and forth.
There is then a little final section where Kate asks questions such as what is your favourite library and reading!
Alongside this collection which I’m enjoying are interviews with a ghost writer, tales of wartime libraries and a lot more. Reading fans this is highly recommended!
