Goodbye January hello February - TBR Challenges Await

Helloooo!!

Yes that was a long month wasn’t it?

I’m in a strange waiting period for work about to get very very busy but for a change wisely used some of my leave to have some time off and get some recharging in before it all goes busy.

TBR Update

Ok lets be clear here I’ve had a wek and a half off and I had a lot of books last month I needed to finish. Plus I’m also trying to mix larger reads with some of the shorter ones plus graphic novels that have been in my pile for too long.

I finish January on 39 reads completed

Of which 22 were from the TBR pile

I would be very surprised I do that well again this year! But its been immenseley satisfying getting some shelf space back. Still more work to do. February I suspect will be ARC heavy with a lot coming out to review but we shall see!

Onto this month’s challenges

February’s Theme is Lovers Meeting - I want this month to consider our TBRs have often delayed our gratification of good books. I can’t read that yet as I’ve not done this or read that one yet. But I think TBRs are where books we know we love tend to get trapped so this month it is about thinking of a TBR pile as full of potential joys you should not put off

The Main Challenge - I want you to go through the TBR pile and choose a book by an author you’ve loved and read it.

Nice and easy for me this year - I am targeting Light of Impossible Stars by Gareth L Powell the last of the Trouble Dog trilogy I’ve kept delaying reading for precisely that reason. Space ships, aliens and intrigue await

Your Stretch Challenge is importantly one you have until the end of the year to complete - I want you to start and by the end of the year finish a duology or pair of books by the same author

For this one I’ve the latter half of a linked quartet of tale again I’ve been delaying getting to Before Mars and Atlas Alone by Emma Newman. The Planetfall series has some fascinating perspectives on humanity, mental health and the future of the world.

So they’re my picks, what are yours? tell me below or in the social medias!
