Hellooo! And I’m back in the UK we had an amazing time in Budapest.  It’s a very interesting city with a lot of styles and history associated with it ranging from Greek, the Soviet Union to Turkish! Highlights were Buda castle and the fabulous Fishermen’s Bastion (the view over the Danube is fab) to the unusual and weird Dracula’s Labyrinth – some ancient tunnels that get damp and create their own spooky mist which when adding in opera and mannequins makes a deliciously weird experience.  We walked everywhere and I feel so much better for some time out from it all. Definitely won’t take this long until my next break!

PS - in great book history below is an awesome author statue of anonymous a mysterious author from the 13th Century

What I’ve Reviewed

The Rosewater Insurrection by Tade Thompson  - an amazingly impressive second part in this trilogy exploring an alien settlement in Nigeria.  This is more the epic war novel in the sequence, and you can clearly see Thompson fully deserves his Clarke Award

 Distaff edited by Rosie Oliver – an all-woman SF anthology that impressed me with a huge range of different styles of SF story.  I always like something different and this delivered.

The Song of The Sycamore by Edward Cox – a new story from one of my favourite fantasy authors.

The Undoing of Arlo Knott by Heather Child – Intrigued by this tale of a person with ability to rewind time.

Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky – the sequel to one of the best SF novels and I don’t even mind the spiders!

Velocity Weapon by Megan E O’Keefe – VERY much looking enjoying another bit of space opera that all the bloggers are saying is one of the best out this year

Lord of Secrets by Breanna Teintze – new fantasy series about saving the people you love

The Bone Garden by Heather Kassner – a ghost tries to stay ‘alive’

The House of Sacrifice by Anna Smith Spark – the conclusion to one of my favourite series the Empire of Dust is a calling
