The F is for Fear Plan - Day 3 - Antiques Scareshow

Thank you for joining us – and well done for surviving your haunted homes tour in Day 2. Hill House have said you were the perfect guest and they were sorry to see you go; next time they will try to get you to stay forever!  Next up on the FEAR programme Dr R Womble Esq will now explain today’s programme and hand out your syllabus reading material.

Day 3 – Jumble Sale!

Horror is often quite against the idea of possessing objects; unless the object itself is possessed. A really early version of the story is The Monkey’s Paw where an object that delivers your greatest wishes turns out to bring nothing but trouble. Greed in horror is contrary to Gordon Gecko rarely good.

Mr James Ghost stories are FULL of books, whistles and even a crown that the finder may wish they had left; particularly when they ignored all prior warnings and messages.  These are perfect little slices of bad things happening often to bad people – Oh Whistle and I’ll Come To You My Ladis a haunting strange one. These are best read late at night ideally with as little lighting going on and then a storm outside. Trust me 😊

Moving up the 21st century a recent tale that takes the idea of a haunted object (or possibly web) is Ghoster by Jason Arnopp where a woman races to find her boyfriend but is getting startling images and messages sent to her on his phone – the only thing he has left behind.

So I wish you luck in the jumble sale and if you find a lovely working video recorder I have a VHS tale you’ll find the film of a lifetime
