Book Tempting To The Future

Hello!!

A few books and this week also novellas that have got on my radar, including one I was keeping an eye out for and to my shame have missed (several years ago)

Random Sh*t Flying Through the Air by Jackson Ford - published by Orbit £8.99 paperback - out 9/7

Teagan Frost's life is finally back on track. Her role working for the government as a telekinetic operative is going well and she might even be on course for convincing her crush to go out with her. But, little does she know, that sh*t is about to hit the fan . . .

A young boy with the ability to cause earthquakes has come to Los Angeles - home to the San Andreas, one of the most lethal fault lines in the world. If Teagan can't stop him, the entire city - and the rest of California - could be wiped off the map.

Clearly some weird typing problem with the title but I really enjoyed the first novel in this sequence The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind. What is the obsession with Shot? Perhaps this time I will find out!

Of Dragons, Feasts and Murders by Aliette de Bodard - self published - £2.99 Kindle eBook out 7/7

Lunar New Year should be a time for familial reunions, ancestor worship, and consumption of an unhealthy amount of candied fruit.

But when dragon prince Thuan brings home his brooding and ruthless husband Asmodeus for the New Year, they find not interminable family gatherings, but a corpse outside their quarters. Asmodeus is thrilled by the murder investigation; Thuan, who gets dragged into the political plotting he’d sworn off when he left, is less enthusiastic.

It’ll take all of Asmodeus’s skill with knives, and all of Thuan’s diplomacy, to navigate this one—as well as the troubled waters of their own relationship….

This is out tomorrow. I’ve read it and will review tomorrow but it is very very very good! Well worth your time

The Book of Snow and Silence by Zoe Marriott - self published - £3.99 Kindle eBook - Out Now

Fierce Princess Theoai is devastated when betrayal by her own sister destroys her chance to inherit their mother’s crown. Exiled across the sea to wed a prince she has never met, she soon finds that taking possession of her new crown will be more perilous than she could ever have imagined. The snowy realm of Silinga is rotten to the core, and Theoai’s handsome Prince is spoiled and reckless, with eyes only for the beautiful mute who washed up on the shore the day after Theoai’s arrival: Shell. But though she enchants the entire palace with her unearthly dancing, Shell is more than just a romantic rival, and against her will Theoai is drawn to her. As they both navigate the glittering, treacherous court, their relationship changes from hostility to friendship – and then to a love that will shake the very foundations of the cold kingdom that seeks to tear them apart.

I’m very intrigued by this description and an author I’ve wanted to read for a while.

A short novellete but that description really calls to me - I do like a caper

Forgotten Warriors by Barry Nugent - published by Batten Press - £11.99 paperback out now

Three years ago, on the eve of their greatest triumph, the Book of Cademus suffered their greatest defeat.

Today the leaders of this apocalyptic cult are hunted across the globe as their followers lose faith in their gods.

Reduced to striking out from the shadows in petty acts of vengeance, the cult hatches one last desperate gambit to regain all they have lost.

The Icarus Foundation, ignorant of the danger, has become locked in a political power struggle. The United Nations believes Icarus are too dangerous to be left unchecked and take drastic measures to bring them under control.

With Icarus’ focus turned elsewhere the burden falls on those scarred survivors to stand against the Book of Cademus once more. If they can…

Ok I read the first book in this series circa 2012 - I really enjoyed a creative fantasy story. I wanted to know what happened next and had not realised it had came out…in 2017. Reader occasionally I am very stupid. But bright side is I am aware now so perhaps a double whammy may be incoming.
