Tidy The TBR - Monthly Reckoning (and Runalong Off The Shelves)

Life Outside the Blog

January is virtually over! Always a long month and this was no exception. Work has been very stop start with a lot of stops which has been more curious than frustrating. This week I’m going into the office via trains for two days so I shall let you know if any form of normal is coming back. I sense for offices it probably will not be the same but we will see. February requries me to do two exams and I’m debating exactly when I book the dates - argh just like student days again.

Although I finally completed Couch to 5k I sorta fell off the wagon and so last month restarted it - week 5 this time has been even harder but after a week and a half I’ve remembered how to do a long run (tip - slower wins when you’re learning; speed will happen with time as your legs get used to it). Still enjoy it as its nice to switch off while focusing on not falling over - this time also trying with podcasts and that’s going ok too (see below).

I do confess I’ve started World and enjoy it… but unless you’re up before 6am you won’t see my score!

Blog life

Actually a decent level of blogging. My plan calender worked pretty well until last week when I found I more in the mood for novellas than books but I have wriggle room to catch up. Its also helpful to look and think no agreeing to any tours at that date would be bad for you Womble. An easier tool than a spreadhseet for my brain as I can move things around to suit moods. The blog has been busy and the TBR challenge seems a popular blog this month so hopefully I can help more reduced TBRs (it is my mantra…deep deep deep down)

Subjective Chaos 2022 is lurking around the corner and our next set of judges is assembling and nominations will soon be created. More details to come soon!

Tidy The TBR

Bear i mind I’ve read a lot of novellas this month so looks scarily high (including all 6 wonderful new ones from Luna for tempting later this week)

Books Read - 28

ARCS - 18

TBR Pile - 10

I’ve read my oldest and newest book in the pile and a couple of my other TBR picks. House of Leaves has started for my twelve in 2022 chalelnge but not yet really clicked. This needs concetration to make an opinion

I’ll be back tomorrow with Feb challenge picks

Runalong Off The Shelves

Some quick recs for you that are not books!

TV - pretty sparse but two things I’m enjoying. On iPlayer is Digging For Britain an annual series where we see the best archaeology digs of the past year. Always fascinating from recent history to the Neolithic.

Winterwatch is super relaxing nature TV and covers what happens in the countryside at this time of year. Elementary re-watch resumes with season 4 and this as John Noble in it and that is always a good thing.

Podcasts

I’ve started The Naked geek and highly recommend this podcast where David Monteith talks quite personally about their geek highlights and what they mean to him as a person. The show has covered mental health to the death of a child at birth. Fascinating and intelligent we also have had interviews with other geeks including Adrian Tchaikovsky, Barry Nugent and Courtney Charlton. Its an uplifting and positive podcast that you should enjoy.

A few regular faves to catch up include Breaking the Glass Slipper, Fiction Fans and Coode St Podcast and next month I want to catch up on the new horror drama The Secret of St Kilda and finally finish the Magnus Archives

In the meantime have fun everyone!
