TBR Challenges - January Is the hardest month!

Helloooo!

I was not expecting January to be this snowy, icy, windy and stormy! Add in recovering from last month’s flu I am nearing January feeling I’ve spent a year in it. So it’s finally time for me to confirm my January Tidy The TBR picks!

The TBR challenge is a goal for your o basically get to not fear those books unread on a shelf and get back into reading them. Do not be afraid if you find them a bad read - let it go and you’ll then have more shelf space that a kind booktempter will help you fill.

So let’s go!

You have my permission to read the last book you added to the TBR pile

TBR piles grow when the book we decided we want to read gets picked and then quickly mothballed. So let’s break the habit. For me at the end of December that was Halloweird edited by Johnny Mains and you know what I finished it earlier this month and it was fine! No need to even review it. It has been turned into a read book.

Your stretch goal is

Time travelling – read the oldest book in your TBR pile (this can be in terms of publication or buying date!)

Equally TBRs grow as we push things back and back in the queue. So let’s tackle the best from both ends. This year I’ve found my copy of The Time Traveler's Almanac: A Time Travel Anthology by Jeff and Ann VanderMeer - I’ve had this since 2013! It’s over 1000 pages and in Hardback - this is definitely a long 2025 challenge and a reminder you don’t have to read every pick in a month it’s clear by the end of the year.

So what are your picks - let me know in socials and here but at the weekend you’ll get my Feb choices and a progress update
